During the meeting, the following items were discussed:
Brother Ken asked if there was any old business to discuss related to the Lodge. Brother Steve said Brother Hermon requested that the membership looks at purchasing a book to donate to the Florence Lauderdale County Public Library in Brother Dan Howards’ name. It is customary that this Lodge donate a book to the library when a member in good standing passes away. Brother Robert Steen and Brother Dan Richardson agreed to get with Anne, Dan’s wife, and Lee Freeman, the Lodge’s contact at the public library, to determine what would be a good book and an appropriate book to donate to the library in memory of Brother Dan Howard. Both Brothers agreed to report back to the Lodge membership at the next meeting.
Brother Robert said he wanted to commend those brothers responsible for the Grand Lodge meeting held on Saturday, June 25th. He said he thought the program went very smoothly and appreciated everyone’s effort in making it happen.
Brother Ken then inquired about new business. Brother Leslie then spoke up and said he would like to propose starting a program through our lodge to help children through a diversion program to assist in keeping them out of trouble. He said the program could be for children about to get into trouble and those already in trouble who might benefit from such a program.
